The Location

Ballyshannon, situate in the south of County Donegal,  has a variety of shops, including craft shops, supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs.

It has a swimming pool and leisure centre,

sports fields, an arts theatre and cinema.

The town is located on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way,

and scenically bounds Assaroe Lake to the east,

and Donegal Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.


The famous surfing beaches of Rossnowlagh and Bundoran 

are less than 10 minutes drive from Ballyshannon.

Mullaghmore's watersports, sailing centre and big wave surfing,

are less than 20 minutes from Ballyshannon.


The pleasure craft marina and large fishing port of Killybegs is 45 minutes away.

Sea angling on Donegal Bay is top class, including bluefin tuna,

blue shark, large skate, beach casting, and rocky shore fishing.

Freshwater angling includes salmon, trout, pike, and top quality course fishing.

All of these are within 15 minutes drive from Ballyshannon.


Whales, dolphins, and porpoises provide exciting whale watching just offshore in Donegal Bay. 

Golf courses, equestrian centres, mountain biking, and

hillwalking are also nearby. 


The regional centres of Sligo, Letterkenny, and Enniskillen

are within easy driving distance from Ballyshannon.


Knock International Airport is 1½ hours,

Belfast International Airport is 2¼ hours, and

Dublin Airport is less than 3 hours drive away.
